today is the 81st anniversary of the signing of executive order 9066, a day that I am still learning about. since Dylan and I first started releasing music on this day three years ago, i've been grateful to hear more stories of what Japanese Americans of my grandparent's generation have gone through...

i've been pretty vocal about the camps for a while now. during the past year, i was unsure if it was my place to be so vocal about something i hadn't experienced myself...being a couple generations removed, maybe it was something for my father and aunt to talk about and not me.

but it is. they have both passed on stories about my grandparents to me and it is my place to continue telling them so that they are not forgotten. i've had the privilege to meet others who have the same feelings and express their thoughts and emotions through different mediums...being able to watch them dance, read their poems and books, and engage in discussion has been a great hope in my life. connecting with other Yonseis and sharing how we process this grief and experience life as grandchildren of the camps has made me feel not alone. it's been especially special to be making this music with Dylan as we go through this together, someone who i know i was connected to when we first met in high school but didn't think at this level. im proud to be continuing to release music in this series with him.

like the previous recordings, all proceeds of this music will go towards Asian Americans Advancing Justice (www.advancingjustice-aajc.org). we hope you will take time with this music and hear what we have to say as well as others across generations. stay safe and help others around you stay safe.
